Edinburgh history private guided tour tag 2

3h

Go off the beaten path and discover Edinburgh’s hidden gems, tucked in the woods alongside the charming Leith River. Head to the Dean Village - a beautiful area where the old water mills of Edinburgh used to run. Take your time to enjoy the Stockbridge Boho neighbourhood, New Town, and the promenade in the impressive green heaven that is the Royal Botanic Garden.

Tour Highlights:

  • Dean Village: Charming stone buildings along the Leith River and the rich history of the “Baxter” (baker) guild of the city.

  • Stockbridge: Filled with independent shops and a thrifting heaven nestled between beautiful Georgian buildings, this neighbourhood feels like a small town whilst still being at the heart of Edinburgh! On Sundays, enjoy the quaint artisan market there and learn about delicious local food.

  • New Town: discover this beautiful Georgian and Romantic part of Town, dating back to 1767!

  • Traditional pub: Enjoy a stop in one of the traditional "Howfs" (pubs) of the New Town, with wooden beams and a rich history

  • Royal Botanic Garden: With 72 acres of stunning scenery, you can discover more than 350 years of plant conservation and 13,302 plant species. Stroll between gigantic redwood trees, a gorgeous collection of rhododendrons, the recreation of a Chinese hillside, a walled garden, a mountain hill rock garden, and much more.
